Deacon Louis Baxter Sims of Charlotte, North Carolina peacefully transitioned from earth to glory on Wednesday, August 19, 2020. He was 91 years wise.
Louis was born May 9, 1929 in Gaffney, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Shawn Sims and Eula Mae Sims. He departed within the comforts of his home with his beloved family by his side. Louis was always referred to as "Pop" by loved ones.
Pop was always hard working and excelled at an early age. He was drafted into the Unite States Army, serving 6 yearArtillery Battalion. He was honored with the National Defense Services Medal. After serving, pops went straight into entrepreneurship where he mastered Carpentry and also worked for the Charlotte School board. He could literally build a home himself from the ground up.
Pop love reading the funny papers, watching Western movies and listening to Blues, B.B. King was his favorite of musicians. Pop was also very fond of Baseball and Football, some of his favorites are the (previously Brooklyn) LA Dodgers and Carolina Panthers. Pop was a member of the To Be Encouraged Christian Ministry where he served as Deacon. Deacon Sims was greatly loved by his church family; he was best known for his humble poise, subtly and mostly for his infamous saying: "WHAT TIME IS IT?!" when it came to offering. The church family will miss him dearly.
Pop was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sons Jerome, Jamie and Melvin Sims and grandson Marvin Sims. He is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Lillie Mae Sims; children, Anthony Sims, Denise Sims Reid and Richard Sims and many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
