Ms. Louise M. Mangrum, 91 of Charlotte, passed away on January 16, 2019 at White Oak Manor. Louise "A True Rose," was born to Mary Lee Parsons in Lilesville, NC on March 7, 1927.
Louise grew up on a farm outside of Wadesboro, NC, where she worked in the cotton and corn fields. She attended Brown Creek School until she was 12. On Sundays, she looked forward to going to church at West Rocky Ford Baptist Church in Anson County where her grandfather was the pastor. She attended Parsons Grove Baptist Church, which was her home church.
Louise was married to the late John Mangrum. Out of their union, six children were born.
She was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church for over sixty years. Louise was a member of the Senior Usher Board, Missionary Group, Hymn Choir, worked in the Nursery, the Kitchen Committee, The Old Forty's Club, the Lanes Creek Association, and many other ministries.
Louise was a founding member of the Pilot Gospel Singers where she served in many capacities. She was a dedicated caregiver to ten families for over a span of fifty years. She was a creative soul that could make clothes, do hair, and was an excellent cook.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Roy Mangrum, John Thomas "Tip" Mangrum, and Fairday Mangrum; two sisters, Mary Harris and Ruth Smith; and brother, JT, where abouts unknown.
She leaves to cherish loving memories her children, Leroy Gary (Jean), Ethel Croutch (Thomas), Dock Mangrum (Marie), Myra Croutch (Henry), Gloria Harris (Leonard); daughter-in-law, Carolyn Mangrum; 32 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; and a host of many other relatives and friends.
