Mrs. Ida Lucille Bunch Townsend of Charlotte passed away at Levine & Dickson Hospice- Southminster on Tuesday, June 28, 2016. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at O'Zion A.M.E. Zion Church. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.  Burial will follow at the church cemetery.  Ms. Townsend, was born January 20, 1925.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jimi Harris.  Ms. Townsend attended Mecklenburg County Schools and worked as an Elevator Operator for Belk Department Stores.  She also was a cook for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools until she retired.  Lucille was a loving, nuturing and caring woman.  She was a woman of grace and poise.  She was known for her prissy and feisty ways.  Lucille enjoyed fishing with her sisters. Left to cherish fond memories are four children, Saundra Evans, Cammie Haney (Dale), Shirley Hodges, and Thomas Townsend all of Charlotte, eight grandchildren, Dearmia Harris, Rickiiya Townsend, Damien Evans, DarShaunda Evans, Neticia Hodges (Crystal), Brianna Townsend, Matthew Townsend and Adrean McLean, fifteen great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Maggie Epps of Charlotte; special friends, Priscilla Bell, Sarah Pressley and June Adams; and host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
