Obituary

On Friday, January 13 2023, at 5:30 PM GOD called Lucille Vaughns saying "Well done, thou good and faithful servant…enter thou into the joy of thy lord."

Lucille, "Seal" Vaughns was born on February 18, 1930, to the late Julius and Effie Ann Jackson Sr. in Tallahassee Florida. She attended Griffin Elementary School and followed to Griffin High School.

By 1951, accompanied with her late sister Mary, "Pinto" Miller, Lucille had left Tallahassee for Brooklyn New York to join with her late sister Fannie Mae Jackson. It was while in New York, Lucille met and later married her only love the late Andrew Vaughns on March 15, 1952. They raised four children, the late Joyce Mizell Vaughns, Edward Andrew Vaughns, Tony Bernard Vaughns, and Adriannia Delores Vaughns and provided a home for their children that instilled the love of Christ.

Although completing only the 10 th grade, Lucille knew the value of an education and wanted her children to have more than what she was able to achieve. Being a devoted wife and a nurturing Mother, raising two boys and two girls in the heart of East New York, Lucille ran a household that demanded discipline and respect or else….

Lucille was employed by the New York City Board of Education where she worked as a cafeteria employee for over 30 years before retiring in 1999.  Prior to that, Lucille performed various domesticated work. Later in 2000 Lucille and her husband moved to Charlotte North Carolina to be closer to her youngest daughter and youngest grandson, Andrew Coach Vaughns.

Lucille leaves a loving Family that continues to cherish her memories: two sons: Edward Andrew Vaughns of Winston Salem, NC; Tony Bernard Vaughns of Albany, NY; daughter Adriannia Delores Vaughns of Charlotte NC; granddaughters: Akira Toriette Vaughns Taylor of Charlotte, NC; Janell Iman Vaughns Jacobs of Goose Creek, SC; grandsons Edward Kiron Vaughns of Jacksonville FL; Kenneth Andrew Vaughns of Albany, NY; and Andrew Coach Vaughns of Greensboro, NC; great grandchildren: Ron's daughter Kiyah Vizzi and son's Elijah J Vaughns and Ezra Vaughns of Jacksonville, FL.
