Lucinda Crenshaw Blackmon gained her wings on October 23, 2023, at her home in the comfort of her recliner. Mrs. Blackmon was the daughter of the late James Crenshaw and Annie Lee Shropshire, born in the township of Pleasant Hill, South Carolina on May 1, 1923. She was one of 16 children born into this union. Lucinda grew up in Kershaw, South Carolina, and attended Kershaw Public Schools. Here she enjoyed playing softball, basketball, music, and dancing. In the early 1940s, she moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where she met and married Otis Blackmon. Together they raised three children: a daughter, Veronica, and two sons, William and Otis James "Butch". May 1, 1923 – October 23, 2023 Otis and Lucinda started numerous businesses and acquired properties around the Charlotte Metro area. Mrs. Blackmon is well known as the Co-founder of the Original Chicken & Ribs which continues to operate today. Mrs. Blackmon also joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church on South Brevard where she raised her children and served as an active member. Mrs. Blackmon was a member of the Sheepfold of Ruth, Women's Missionary Union, and was active on the Usher Board until 2015. Mrs. Blackmon retired in 1968 focusing on enjoying her family, church, entertaining, gardening, cooking, and actively participating in social service organizations.
