Obituary

Luvenia Caldwell, 90 of Charlotte, passed away on July 23, 2019 at her residence.  She was born on September 20, 1928 in Mecklenburg County to the late Tine Caldwell and Roxie Wallace.

Luvenia was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System.  Early in life she moved to Wilmington, Delaware where she met and married Alfonzo Falkner.

Luvenia was employed with the State of Delaware form 1968 until she retired.  In the late 1990's, Luvenia moved back to North Carolina to be with her family.

Luvenia was saved.  She was faithful member of St. John Fire Baptized Holiness Church.  There she faithfully served as a member on the Mother Board, Usher Board, and the Senior Choir.

Luvenia, affectionately known as "Aunt Venie," was very feisty and loved life.  She did not give birth to children, but she raised many and she cared for her niece, Roxanne Givens.  Mother Caldwell was a hard worker.  She loved sharing the Word of God.  She was kind and caring and would tell the truth, even if it hurt.  Although she did not serve on the missionary board at church, she was a missionary indeed.  She made many visits to the hospital alongside her pastor.  She supported the church financially and she also was very generous to other local charities ad foreign field.

Luvenia leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.  She loved her church and her church family.  She experienced a special relationship with Mother Rosa Covington and two nieces, Margaret Redfern and Rosemary Gibson, who served as her caretaker.

Luvenia was preceded in death by her husband, Alfonzo Falkner; parents, Tine Caldwell and Roxie Wallace; four sisters, Eloise W. Bell, Mattie W. Stover, Eliza M. Thompson, and Maggie Bell Givens; three brothers, Willie Frank Wallace (Bull), Hector Lee Wallace, and Columbus Wallace (Smokey).
