Mable A. Meachem was born on April 23, 1939 in Pineville, NC to parents, Kiff Beatty and Mattie Audrey. Mable was educated at Sterling High School in Pineville, NC. She married her first husband, Melvin Boyce in 1956 and in this marriage had five girls, Rozzelyn Gale, Princess Genee, Ramona Gwen, Melissa Gaye and Lisa Geneen. In May of 1976, Mable married Robert Meachem who had two daughters, Sherry and Roberta. Later they adopted Durand (Randy) as their son.
Mable was employed with Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools for over 30 years. During those years, she bonded with her dearest friends; Jean Thompson, Barbara Gibbs, Mary Maxwell and many more.
In 33 years of marriage, she proudly served the community and the Presbyterian church. Her love of God and the decision to make Jesus Lord of of her life was heavily influenced by her loving grandmother, Tossie Wall and her amazing mother, Mattie Ardrey. It was her joy to sing in the choir, teach Sunday school and be a faithful and reliable servant.
One of Mable's deepest passions was entertaining friends and family at her home and cooking meals for everyone to enjoy. Her girls would fight over favorites like Melba Salad, Pineapple Upside Down Cake and Potato Salad. NO ONE could make simple dishes like carrots and steamed cabbage taste so good!
After retirement, she and Bob began to travel all over the US visiting friends, family and historic sites. She loved taking roadtrips so that she could stop when she wanted...stay as long as she wanted...and come home when she had enough.
Once the grandchildren stated coming, Mable "Granni" was excited, proud and wanted them all to be her own. The tour of the grands went from Atlanta to Charlotte to Salisbury to Chapel Hill and Raleigh. Granni didn't miss one graduation and very few sporting events.
