Mae McCall Hodges, 91, entered eternal life on May 26, 2025, in Charlotte, NC. Mae, affectionately known as Bea, was born on June 3, 1933, in Darlington, SC to Willie C. McCall and Lawson W. McCall. She relocated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania after graduating from Mayo High School. There she obtained employment as a domestic worker in local office buildings. She met and married John Robert Hodges shortly after her arrival in Philadelphia. They created a family and became entrepreneurs together owning a small variety store on Baltimore Ave, Philadelphia, PA.  Later in life the family moved south briefly to Virginia Beach, VA before settling in Wilson, NC. Here she expanded her homemaking skills into a catering business making delicious cakes and dishes for the community. She spent most of her adult life as an entrepreneur and homemaker.

Mae took great pride in her faith and family. Those who knew Mrs. Mae knew she loved beautiful jewelry and often complimented her natural nails for always being manicured to the nines.  She also enjoyed several genres of music from gospel to rhythm & blues. Mae enjoyed singing along to the hymns in the religious services she attended after moving to her last residence in the city of Charlotte, NC.

In addition to her parents, Mae was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Hodges, along with her children, John Robert "Bobby" Hodges, Raymond Jordan and stepson, John Robert "Bob" Hodges; her brothers, Robert "Sonny" C. McCall, Billy C. McCall, Lawson "William" W. McCall, Coleman, "Dick" R. McCall; her sisters, Alice McCall Rogers, Mattie A. McCall, and Willa "Babe" Blake.

Mae will be forever cherished and remembered by family and friends, including her surviving sisters, Lillian Robinson, Victoria Joyce Henderson, Hester "Tingy" O. White, Betty Jo McCall; her children, Delores Glass, Raymond Hodges (Mildred), and Mae Hodges Bryant; her grandchildren, Steven R. Glass (Tabatha), Tori L. Carter (Jason), Raymond Hodges (Ketty), Chanda D. Glass, Marcus J. Hodges, Kaeisha A. Hodges, Mychal G. Mitchell, Marcus G. Mitchell (Courtney), Brittany N. Abdul-Khaliq (Mustafa), Jonathan J. Dabney (LaShawn), Tasha Jones; and host of beautiful great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
