Obituary

Mrs. Mae Frances White, 87, of Charlotte, NC departed this life on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Atrium Main.

Jesus said unto her, "I am the resurrection and the life.  He that believeth in me though he was dead yet shall he live."  John 11:25

On Sunday, July 23, 2023, God called Mae Frances Rhodes White home from a long journey.  She had been working for Jesus a long time.

The late Howard and Mildred Rhodes welcomed their baby girl, Mae Frances Rhodes, on March 11, 1936.  She was truly a bundle of joy.  A few years later, they welcomed another daughter, Patricia.  Mae Frances was happy to be a big sister to Patricia.  With a kind heart and supportive ways, she took good care of her little sister.

Mae Frances grew up in the Center Baptist Church in Gastonia, North Carolina.  She attended Sunday School and received her early Christian education.  She continued praising the Lord at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Mae Frances was educated in the Gaston County Public School System.  She attended Reid High School in Belmont, North Carolina, graduating in the class of 1953.

As she traveled along the way, God gave her a special gift, a son, Michael.  She was very happy with Michael.  He gave her comfort, relief and joy.  As he completed high school, Michael was called home to be with the Lord.

On her journey, Mae Frances met Lionel White. It was love at first sight.  In 1960, they got married.  From this union, four children were born.  The first of their children was Katrina, then Andrea, next came Lionel Jr., and last was Tony.  They were a happy and joyous family.

Mae Frances was a stay-at-home mother.  Later in life she worked at Hydro Prints Company and retired from Fluor Daniels Company.  She took very good care of her children as well as the children in the neighborhood.  There was nothing more valuable or important to her than family.  She always assisted in family needs.  She enjoyed cooking, so she cooked for the family, making her famous potato salad.  She believed in a tight bond among family.  In addition to cooking, she loved plants.  She planted beautiful flowers and plants.  She loved roses, mums and daffodils; and in the midst of it all were elephant ears.

In 1998, Frances lost her companion, friend and husband when Lionel died.  Mae Frances has come to the end of her earthly journey.  To cherish their memories, she leaves two loving and devoted daughters, Katrina Alexander (Jerome) and Andrea Dole (Sylvester); two supportive sons, Lionel White, Jr. (Brenda) and Tony White (Barbie); one granddaughter, Brenica Shepard; grandsons, Marquise Hallman, Tony White, Jr., Ronrico White, Sylvester Dole, Jr., David Arnold and Daniel Arnold; a great-granddaughter, Taleah Hallman; a sister, Patricia McKnight; a sister-in-law, Glendora Mitchell; several nieces, Glenda Mitchell, Nicole White, Kellye White, Jackie McKnight and Linda McKnight; one nephew, Gordon Mitchell; and a host of other relatives and friends.
