Magaline S. Gibson, 87, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Peak Resources Nursing Home in Charlotte, NC.

On Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 3:03 p.m., God, in his infinite wisdom, saw fit to call the matriarch of our family, Magaline S. Gibson, to her eternal resting place.

Mom was educated in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she was a 1956 graduate of Second Ward High School. Later in life, she furthered her education at Central Piedmont Community College and became a licensed practical nurse. She worked for Community Hospital, which was formerly Good Samaritan Hospital.

Later in life after the death of her husband, Mom remarried. She moved to a senior citizen complex and really enjoyed living there. They had many activities for her to do. She loved the fellowship of the Prayer Breakfasts where she and her friends met and broke bread together. She especially enjoyed playing BINGO twice a week as she wanted to win “All” the prizes.

Mom was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Gibson; mother, Minnie E. Smith; brother, Roddy Rainy Jr.; and sister, Esther Butler.

Left to cherish fond memories are her five children, Venus Knox of Rock Hill, SC, Yvette McKinney (Herb), John Thompson, Vincent Thompson (Betty) and Tawana Lewis, all of Charlotte, NC; and one sister, Mary Smith of Los Angeles, CA She also leaves a bonus son and daughter, Kevin and Sybil Johnson of Stanley, NC; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
