Mandell Raymont Dobson Sr., 64, was born May 23, 1956 in Winston Salem, NC and departed this life on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 in Charlotte, NC.
Mandell was one of five children born to the late Gilbert Dobson and Peggy Spencer. He was raised in Winston Salem NC and was a graduate of R. J. Reynolds High School. After graduation he joined U.S. Army in 1974. After serving he was later employed by Southern Bell Telephone Company (AT&T) as a technician for 15 years.
Mandell enjoyed reading, cooking, traveling, playing the lottery and spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, grandmother Mamie Wilson, sister Tina Dobson, son, Mandell Raymont Dobson Jr. , and lifelong friend Calvin Johnson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marion Dobson of Winston Salem, NC, beloved son Matthew Rennard Dobson, treasured grandchildren, Khary, Anaya, Joshua, Nia and Reniyah, much loved daughters in law Nilaja and Stacie Dobson, loving sisters, Evelyn Dobson-Powell and Robin Macklin both of Winston Salem, NC, devoted brother Jerry "Tom" Dobson (Patricia) of Albany, Ga, mother of his children Mary C. Dobson, nieces Kadetta "Kay" Miller (Sterling), Brittany Moore, Gerrie "Pinkie" Dobson, and Iitichia Dobson, two nephews Jerrecho Dobson and Spencer Campbell, life-long friend Neffertiti Sudan and a host of family and friends.
