Ms. Marcia Smith-Jones, 60 of Charlotte, answered her Master's call on Thursday, February 10, 2022 in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was one of seven children born to the late Mr. Johnnie Ladson Smith, Sr. and Mrs. Sallie Lowery Smith on July 18, 1961 in Manning, South Carolina. Her brother, the late Johnnie Ladson Smith, Jr., preceded her in death.
Marcia grew up in New Zion, South Carolina. She joined Friendship Presbyterian Church, USA at an early age. She was a devoted member of the church. She loved attending Sunday school as a youth. Vacation bible school and church camp were delights for her during the summer. Marcia was a member of the Presbyterian Youth Organization and served on the Youth Usher Board.
Marcia was a 1983 graduate of East Clarendon High School in Tuberville, South Carolina. She attended South Carolina State University. She earned an Associate Degree in Business from Central Piedmont Community College. While working full time, she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the University of Phoenix. She worked for several large banking institutions in Charlotte, NC and the surrounding areas. Marcia was currently working for LPL Financial as a Senior Operations Specialist at the time of her passing. She always enjoyed learning and expanding her skills.
Marcia loved having a good conversation with loved ones on any subject. The one thing she loved better than talking was cooking for her friends. Her sweet potato pound cake, chicken salad and quiche were always delightful treats. Gardening, reading and traveling were also her favorite pastimes. She enjoyed vacationing at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina where she loved walking on the beach and fishing with her son Christopher.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are her loving son, Christopher Quinn Jones of Charlotte, NC; four sisters, Jonell McFadden of New Zion, SC; Josephine C. Smith of Matthews, NC; Yvonne Smith DeLoatch of Baltimore, MD; Maritta Janice Smith of New Zion, SC; and two brothers, Alvin D. Smith, Sr. and William L. Smith of New Zion, SC; a sister-in-law, Betty A. Smith of New Zion, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
