Obituary

Mrs. Marion Michelle Osborne Broderick, beloved daughter, sister, aut, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 67. She was born on September 13, 1955, to the late Deacon John N. Osborne, Sr. and the late Mrs. Camilla S. Osborne of Charlotte, NC. She departed this life after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, February 7, 2024. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and beauty that will be cherished by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Deborah C. Osborne and Beverly G. Osborne.

Marion joined Salem Missionary Baptist Church at a young age where she sang in the Musical Choir, served in the Missionary Ministry, and Kitchen Ministry. She also participated in the Mt. Peace Baptist Association and helped with the Youth Department.

She and her brother (Marvin) were the first set of fraternal twins born into the Osborne family. She was a loving person, who enjoyed her life but especially her family. Marion loved children and animals. Though she never had children of her own, over her lifetime she cared for, loved, and nurtured many children who still love and remember her. She attended Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, and she enjoyed playing volleyball and running track. She graduated from West Mecklenburg High School (1974) and later graduated from Central Piedmont Community College with a Preschool Education Certification. In addition to this certification, she received certification in Substitute Teaching, Teaching Assistant, Child Development, Child-Development Administration, and a Class C Driver's License. She was a school teacher for thirty years, working at Ascension Lutheran Parochial School. During her career, she worked for the Mecklenburg County Department of Social Services as a substitute teacher for inner city youth. She really loved teaching her students, guiding, and nurturing them throughout her career.

The best gifts of all are the life lessons and the love that she bestowed to her nieces and nephews. OVer the years, her love and strong words of wisdom reached them all. She taught most of them how to drive, survive, and much more. Marion had a contagious, cheerful spirit, and a great sense of humor that she got from her father. She loved being active whether busting a move on the dance floor or taking a long walk to observe nature. She loved putting her favorite color combinations together in her fashionable wardrobe. She was extremely supportive of her family, often traveling to multiple events in the same day.

Preceding her in death are her parents. Deacon and Mrs. John and Camilla Osborne; her sisters, Deborah C. Osborne and  Beverly G. Osborne. She leaves to cherish her fond memories, her brothers (her twin) Marvin, Rev. John Jr., Paul, Arnold, Aaron, and Dwight; and sisters Cassandra O. Shropshire (Rev. Dr. Harvey L.), Malinda O. Phillips (Quintin) and Jade O. Harris (Rev. Dr. Christopher E.); and a host of nieces and nephews.
