Mary Ella Alexander, 82 of Charlotte, was called to home on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Novant Health - Main.  She was born on May 25, 1939 and was the daughter of the late Dalton and Mattie Abraham.

Mary was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System.  She loved to garden and plant flowers and she enjoyed shopping for clothes and shoes.  She always loved to be around her family.

She loved the Lord and to pray and sing songs.  She often said that she loved everybody and she encouraged her family to go to church.  She loved her children and her husband.  She was a strong woman.

Mrs. Alexander is survived by her devoted loving husband, Joe L. Alexander; daughters, Wanda Cummings (Ronald), Sylvia Abraham, Marcella Alexander; five sons, John Drakeford (Aretha), Shamanne Drake, Tygin Mayes, Jerry Alexander (Cynthia), Larry Alexander, Sean McCluney (Toya); four sisters, Mattie McClurkin, Betty Elder, Elouise Abraham, Delores Teasley; two brothers, John Lee Abraham and Roosevelt Abraham; grandchildren, LaQuantez Abraham, Aikisha Abraham, Tierra Love, Jasana Anderson, Irdis Harris, Ronald Cummings, Jr., Eric Drakeford, Jr., Z'kevius Drakeford, Serenity Drakeford, Zoe Sander, Kashawn Shamayla Drakeford, Shamanne Drakeford, Jr.; seven great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and her other daughter by another mother, Cheryl Clinton.
