Mary Gwendolyn Brewer (1950 - 2015) CHARLOTTE - Mary Gwendolyn Brewer, of Charlotte, NC formerly of Baltimore, Maryland, departed this life on May 31, 2015. Born on August 19, 1950, she was the youngest of the late Moses and Arbelia (Dempsey) Davis. She was a faithful member of New Beginnings Church and attended every Sunday until she went home to be with the Lord. Mary loved the word of God; her favorite bible verse was Isaiah 53:5 (KJV), "But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." She attended Dunbar High School in Baltimore and received her GED then worked at the Social Security Administration in the office of a key puncher. Most recently, she was a loving and devoted worker at Misty Angels' Daycare. She was predeceased by her sisters, Vivian Elaine Davis and Bernice Jackson and her brothers James A. Keith and Wilbert Keith. She is survived by her devoted husband Geoffrey Arthur Brewer of Charlotte, NC formerly of Liberia. Her brothers-in-law Edward Wallace, Sr. (Jonelle) of Baltimore and Wiley Jackson, Jr. of Rocky Mount, her beloved nieces Jacquelyn Montaque and Tina Keith of Baltimore, Terri V. Jackson, Misty L.Holloway (Gregory), Denise Baucom, Cheryl Wallace and Dionne Johnson-Alexander (Perry) of Charlotte and nephews Donnie C. Jackson (Rosilyn) and Kenneth D. Wallace (Charlene) all of Charlotte and Edward L. Wallace, Jr. (Gloria) of Greensboro. She has many beloved great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nephews and a great-great-niece, first cousins Elliot Dempsey, Alma Dempsey and Glenda Dempsey Washington and William Dempsey of Baltimore, her close-like sisters Annette Robin Getter of Charlotte formerly of New York and Bette W. Cain of Salisbury formerly of Liberia relatives and beloved friends. She also leaves many friends and devoted instructors at the YWCA Dowd and YWCA Simmons in Charlotte. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, from 11:30am to 2:30pm at New Beginnings Church, 7027 Stillwell Road, Matthews, NC then there will be an internment at Gethsemane, 1504 W. Sugar Creek Road, Charlotte, NC. A celebration of Mary's life will be held at the Hickory Grove Hall at 6401 Hickory Grove Road at 4:00pm.
