Mary Louise Alexander Calloway, 96 of Charlotte, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Atrium Health-Main. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Bessie Alexander was born March 21, 1925 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. Mary attended public schools where she was on the girls' basketball team and graduated from West Charlotte High school in 1941. She was a homemaker.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Calloway Jr., one son, Ronald Calloway, 2 daughters Beverly and Caroline Calloway, 3 brothers, James, Johnny, and Robert, 2 sister, Bessie Alexander and Rosanna Alexander Williams.
Mary gave her life to God at an early age, becoming a member of Greenville Mission Sunday School as secretary and as an Annual Sunday School Delegate. She maintained her membership as the church grew to Greenville Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church. She continued to serve on Missionary Society No 3. within that society she served as Secretary and member of the Lay Council, Hearts of Gold member, and Bethlehem Center of Wilmore Young at Heart.
She leaves to cherish fond memories her 7 children Larry, Robert (Brenda), Christopher, Vicki, Pamela and Steven Calloway and Rhonda Williams all of Charlotte, North Carolina. Candice and Tandra Ramsey, both of Atlanta, Georgia. Her special niece, Carolyn Alexander Burnette. Mary had 24 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren, and 11 great-great grandchildren, and a host of family and friends.
