Ms. Mary Louise Kinard, 83, of Charlotte NC departed this life on November 2, 2023, at Novant Presbyterian Main.
Mary Louise Kinard was born on March 19, 1940, to the union of the late Lelar R. and Martin L. Kinard. She was born in Clinton, South Carolina but her parents moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1940. At an early age, she was given the nickname "Bub." Mary had three brothers, three sisters and four children, all whom she loved dearly.
She attended Second Ward High School and Central Piedmont Community. She loved to attend her Second Ward High School class reunions.
She was employed by Carolina Overall and later Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) as a Senior Media Technician where she worked until she retired in 1982 after 30 years. While working at CMS, she had many co-workers who became lifelong friends. Mary enjoyed having fun lunches with her friends from CMS.
Mary loved watching soap operas but that was not the time to call or visit because if you spoke, she would "shush" you and if you would call her, she would not answer the phone or she would answer and tell you she would have to call you back. She also liked seek and find puzzles and attending family and church gatherings.
She loved to travel with her cousin Ms. Liz Brown early in life and after she retired, she loved to travel with her sister, Sarah Bellamy and her brother in-law Alston Bellamy. They would travel to the beaches of Florida and South Carolina spending time fishing and relaxing. She was not an avid fisher but she tried. She traveled until her health began to decline. Since she could no longer travel, she went back to another favorite hobby, buying clothes and wigs. She loved her wigs and she always kept at least 15-20 of them.
Mary was a faithful member of Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church where she joined at an early age. She was an usher, a member of the Blue Rose Club and several other organizations. She was also a member of New Beginnings Fellowship Church, and her most recent church was Alive For Christ Ministries where she loved all members. There were days she did not feel well but she would still get dressed and attend church because Zoom and Facebook was not for her.
Mary took her rest on Thursday, November 2, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Roy Kinard, Jr.; sisters, Sarah Bellamy and brother in-law Alston Bellamy, Claudia Gary, Stella Cropp, Ms. Liz Brown; and brothers, John Kinard and Alvin Kinard.
Mary leaves to cherish, Roy Kinard, Sr., Dondra K. Byers (Anthony), Jerry Kinard (Essie), Kelvin Kinard (Regina); a younger brother, Kenneth L. Kinard; nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; partner, Wayne McCoy, Sr.; special friend, Gerri Hicklen; and a host of relatives and friends.
