Mary Alberta
Montgomery-Davis
August 24, 2025
Mary Alberta Montgomery-Davis, 76, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at her residence.
Mary Alberta Montgomery-Davis was born on February 10, 1949, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. She was a beloved daughter of the late Fred Montgomery and Evelyn Wilson Montgomery (Jordan).
At the age of fourteen, Mary moved with her family from Charlotte to Philadelphia, and later to Buffalo, New York. She graduated from East High School, Buffalo, Class of 1967, and went on to pursue her degree in Business Administration at the University of Buffalo. She began her career working with Planned Parenthood as a receptionist before returning to Charlotte in 1975 to be closer to her family and help care for a special niece whom she dearly loved.
Mary's journey in life reflected her many gifts and callings. She pursued her passion for beauty, studying at Plaza Beauty School and Southeastern Beauty School to become a Licensed Cosmetologist. Her calling to ministry led her to establish Manor Bread of Life Ministries, where she pastored and served faithfully for many years. She also served in numerous ministries including Women AGLOW, mentoring fellow ministers, anchored in Christ Radio Broadcast, This Is It, the Chaplaincy at Mecklenburg County Jail, and the NC/SC Prison Ministry. Her service to others was a true reflection of her heart for God and people.
After retiring as a stylist, Mary became a Certified Nursing Assistant, caring for families with compassion and kindness until her health declined. Mary's life was also filled with creativity and joy—she was talented in sewing, upholstery, patternmaking, knitting, crocheting, writing screenplays, and even bowling. She found peace in reading and fulfillment in serving others.
Mary fostered and cared for many children throughout her life. To her nieces and nephews, "Auntie Mary" was a source of love, encouragement, and comfort. Her gentle voice and kind spirit will always be remembered, especially her tender invitation to "The Gathering of the Remnant."
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Montgomery and Evelyn Wilson Montgomery (Jordan); her brothers Fred Montgomery, Louis Jordan, and Floyd Jordan; and her sister, Thelma Rounds.
Mary leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughter, Trina Montgomery Ardrey; four grandsons, Ian Montgomery, Alexis Montgomery, Frederick Montgomery, and Anthony Ray II; and her great-grandson, Zion Martinez. She is also survived by her sisters Ann Brooks, Katie Forte, and Estelle Boyce; her brothers Timothy Jordan and George Jordan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends who brought joy to her life.
Mary lived a life filled with faith, service, and love. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
