Ms. Mary McCrory Neely, 89 of Charlotte, departed this life on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Huntersville Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation, Huntersville, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Hinton McCrory and Mattie Thorn McCrory, was born April 13, 1931 in Chester County, South Carolina.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Romeo Neely and son, Tommie Neely.

Mary was educated in the Chester County, South Carolina School System.  She moved to Charlotte at an early age and worked at Presbyterian Hospital until her retirement.

She was a faithful member of Sprit of the Word Church and served on the hymn choir for many years.  The matriarch of her family, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and caretaker to her entire family and anyone who needed a meal or shelter.  If there was a need present, she met that need with a wealth of love and compassion.

She leaves to cherish her memories five grandchildren, Bridget Durham (Donald) of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Bernard Neely (Brenda) of Richburg, South Carolina,  Tommie Neely, Renika Lane (Sean), and Gregory "Kente" Neely of Charlotte, North Carolina; fourteen great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Hazeline McCrory of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Delores Young (Wilbert) and Martha Parks (Robert); sister-in-law, Rosa McCrory and god brother, Joseph Stewart (Minnie) of Charlotte, North Carolina; her dog, Peppy; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
