Mrs. Mary Ann Russell Squirewell, 70 of Charlotte, transitioned on September 28, 2021 at Atrium Health Main.  She was born April 18, 1951 in Winnsboro, South Carolina to the late Valarie Smith and John Henry Russell.

Mary spent most of her life in South Carolina and was educated in Fairfield County School System.  Her occupation was a seamstress for many years until she changed her occupation into the medical field as a CNA.

Mary was kind and generous and helped everyone, free-spirited and full of life.  She loved to cook, sing and dance and she loved her grandkids, watching her favorite tv shows.  She loved to race cars with her husband and also travel.  She loved family gatherings.  Anytime you wanted to find Mary on the weekends, she was in Bingo Hall, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Squirewell of forty plus years; two sisters, Rudene Millings and Valarie Russell; two brothers, Johnny Russell and Joseph Russell.

Mary was a loving mother, aunt grandmother, and friend.  She is survived by two sons, Anthony Squirewell Jr., and Christopher Squirewell (Shenika Green); one daughter, Shanika Squirewell of the home; three sisters, Virginia (Tommy Lee) Wilson, Eliza (James) Robinson, and Penny (Leon) Smith, all of Winnsboro, South Carolina; two aunts, Emily Massey and Rudene Williams of Charlotte, NC; a very special friend, Odesa Jefferies; two special nieces Rosalyn H. Squirewell and Tondra Russell of Charlotte, NC; eight children, a host of nieces and nephews, and a host of great nieces and nephews.
