Mary Vincent Williams, 82 of Charlotte, passed away on October 29, 2019 at Atrium Health-University. She was born April 23, 1937 to the late James Sr. and Mary Belle McCall. She was the youngest of three children and was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James McCall, Jr. and Kenneth McCall; niece, Deborah Jo; nephew, Kenneth Randle and her husband, Henry Donald Williams, Jr., Mary and Henry were married for 20 years until Henry's death.
She attended Public Schools of Marlboro County and graduated from Marlboro County Training and High School. Mary loved fashion and held retail positions at Cato, Belk and Stein Mart.
At an early age, Mary joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Bennettsville, South Carolina. She later joined First Baptist Church-West in Charlotte, NC where she was very active in key roles of the following ministries: Usher Board (Captain), Missions and Evangelism (President), Missionary Group Number 3 (President), Bereavement Ministry (Head Usher), Deacon Board (Chaplain). She also provided leadership for the Prison Ministry.
In addition to her leadership and ministry affiliations, she actively served as a member of the United Missionary Baptist Association Women's Auxiliary where she was First Runner-Up representing First Baptist Church as Ms. First Baptist Church-West. She also received Honoree recognition from the Association and the Senior Luncheon.
Mary was dedicated, a "matter-of-fact" person and a stickler for decency and order. Her smile, her quick wit and love for her church will be sorely missed.
Mary was an avid sports fan. She loved watching her favorite television shows and favorite movies.
Left to cherish loving memories are her sisters-in-law, Nadean McCall of Brooklyn, NY, Margerie McCall of Washington, DC and Wilhelmina Dupree of Charlotte, NC; brother-in-law, Thomas Williams (Elizabeth) of Charlotte, NC; nieces, Patricia, Eva, Valerie, Michele, Lorraine, Nadine, Yvette and nephew, Asa; stepchildren, Charles, Linda, Mary, Horace, Christine, Cathy and Adrian; and a host of other relatives and friends.
