Mason Bernard Patterson, Sr. was born April 28, 1970 in Charlotte, North Carolina to his loving parents, Mason Flemming and Susie Patterson Samuel, who both preceded him in death. On Friday, April 8, 2022 at 4:17 P.M., Mason joined his parents and entered into eternal rest.

Mason, who was known to many as "Tyson" or "Tightrope", attended Darlington County Public Schools in South Carolina before he began to work and provide for his family. Tyson was a great provider for his family. He will be sorely missed for his kindness to others and gentle but firm voice that could clear a room if needed. His love of music and dancing, fishing, breeding, raising dogs, and fixing cars are just a few of his many talents to mention and he was good at them all. Tyson could also tell a good joke or story to have the whole room in laughter because he did it his way, not to be duplicated.

Tyson was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, uncle, great-uncle, loyal family member and friend.

Mason "Tyson" leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Lynne Furtak-Patterson whom he called his "Suga Pie Patterson",  a sister Francie Patterson Pridgen; five children, Shalia, DeAngelo, Rashawn (Angie), all of Darlington, SC Mason, Jr. and Avionna (Avis), both of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren, Julian, Zenobia, Jared, Jr., DeAngelo, Jr., and Kymire, all of Darlington, SC; three step-children, Euleish, Bina, Nick; six step-grandchildren, all of Charlotte, NC; two nieces, Amelia and Lecoe Patterson; one nephew, Donald Lee Pridgen, Jr., all of Charlotte, NC; six great-nieces and one great nephew; one great-great nephew and one great-great niece, all of Charlotte, NC. He also leaves a special friend of many years, Christina Cousar of Charlotte, NC.
