Mrs. Mattie Mae Wallace, 91, of Charlotte NC departed this life on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at University Place Nursing Home.

Mrs. Mattie Erwin Wallace, age 91, was born on November 4, 1932, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina to the late Mr. Clarence and Mrs. Callie Mason Erwin.  She entered eternal rest on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at the University Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Mattie was the youngest daughter born to the Erwins.  She was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System.  She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Walter Lee Wallace and to this union three (3) children were born; two preceded her in death, Mrs. Mary W. Hambrick and Mr. Charles W. Wallace.

Left to survive her departure are her daughter and care provider, Ms. Paulette Middleton, of the home; granddaughters, Mrs. Monica Brown (Melvin) and Mrs. Felicia Richardson; grandsons, Mr. André Middleton and Mr. Marcus Hambrick (Heidi) of Pennsylvania; son-in-law, Mr. Marshall Hambrick of New Jersey; four great-grandchildren; sister, Mrs. Victoria Wallace of Charlotte, NC; sister-in-law, Mrs. Agnes Nash (Samuel) of Charlotte, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Relocating to Charlotte, NC to be with family and friends, Mattie reunited with The Greater Galilee Church family where she really enjoyed Pastor McGowen's preaching and the singing of the choirs.  We can only imagine the joy she had in living nine decades, the changes she experienced from a farm to a factory, then enjoying retirement and seeing changes that brought her great joy.  Some even gave her a sense of pride.  She always wanted what was best for her people.

On Tuesday morning, November 21st, God plucked this beautiful flower to place in His eternal garden in heaven.  We will cherish the memories we now hold in your place.  We love you, Mattie.
