The Lord gives and the Lord takes away, as he did on September 5, 2019 when he took Maurice Larae Brown, known to many as "Big Moe."

Maurice "Big Moe" loved food, whether it was cooking it or prepping it, as he did at Amelia French Bakery where he was employed until his health failed.   "Big Moe" was known for grilling for the family and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys that he would go to war over.  Talking juke over the football game became one of the moments that everyone looked forward to.  "Big Moe" was a peoples's person.  He was known to talk smack to those around him, never ruffling any feathers and always gaining life long friends.

Maurice was a family man.  He loved spending time with family and going on trips, one of the trips being to the beach where he and his finance' spent many nights.  Maurice was a loving father to his two children, as well as being a father figure to his fiance's five children.

Maurice Larae Brown was born on April 7, 1972 to Furman and Evelyn Brown, in Mecklenburg County, Charlotte, NC.  Maurice received his early Christian education at Parkwood CME Church and attended Charlotte Mecklenburg Public Schools.  He was loved by many and appreciated by all who knew him.

Loving memories of him will always be held by his father and mother, Furman and Evelyn Brown of Monroe, NC; finance' Dana Black and her five children (Alpha, Omega, Cameron, Keiara and Junie) of Charlotte; two children, Antonio Maurice Phillips "Lil Maurice" of Monroe, Maurice Larae Brown Jr., "Baby Maurice" all of Charlotte; five stepchildren; three sisters, Avonda Davis, Maria Brown-Matthews (Yaquii) both of Charlotte; Crystal Montgomey (Charlie) of Monroe; three brothers, Ryan McAfee (Merlinda) of Charlotte, Harry McKinney (Patricia) of Lancaster, SC, Demarcus Redfearn (Persephone) of Gastonia, nine uncles, sixteen aunts, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
