Obituary

Lord, you know all about Maxine Lineberger Jenkins; but please allow us to reminisce.

Maxine Jenkins, 77 of Charlotte, passed away on Saturday May 9, 2020 at her residence. She was born August 28, 1942, the seventh child of Ivey Franklin Lineberger and Roberta Reid Lineberger.  She was born in Catawba County.  At an early age, the family relocated to Mecklenburg County.  Maxine was educated in the Mecklenburg County School System and graduated from Plato Price High School.

She was married at an early age to William "Billy" Jenkins and from this union , there were three children - Timothy Lee, Cheryl Lynn and Jeffery Lane Jenkins.  Although this marriage ended in divorce, Maxine gave birth to Randy and Darryl Rankins, Shonda and Demario Jenkins.  Maxine was a loving and devoted mother and spent her entire life as a homemaker and seldom worked outside of the home.

Maxine was a very jovial person who loved life!  As a proud member of Greater Deliverance Ministry, she loved to attend when she could.  Her smile and loving ways will be missed by many friends and family, but most of all, by her remaining children, Shonda, Tim, Jeff, Randy, Darryl and Demario; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; her only surviving sister, Josephine Hunter; sister-in-law, Mrs. Hurley Lineberger of Fort Walton Beach, FL; and a host of nieces and nephews who loved her so very much.  Know that all of you were very special to her.  Last but not least, she leaver her very good girlfriends who always held her down, Peach Ellison, Shelia Kohn, Sandra Morgan, Mary and Val. The family thanks you!

The comfort we all have is that she joins her mother and father; brothers, Lewis Byrd, Claywell Byrd, Roosevelt "Pee Wee" Byrd, Bo Lineberger, John "Sonny" Lineberger, Robert "Bobby" Lineberger and Jackie Linberger (Charles); sisters, Annie Mae Byrd Nichols, Patricia Byrd Boyd; and daughter, Cheryl Jenkins, all who preceded her in death.

"A broken heart mends very slowly but it does heal in time."  We thank everyone so much for all you've done for us at this time.
