Mrs. Maybell Webb Artis, 93 of Charlotte, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2020 at Huntersville Health & Rehabilitation.

Mama, as some of her grands called her, was born on June 7, 1927 in Goldsboro, NC to the late Isaiah and Viola (Hines) Webb.

While attending public schools in Wayne County in Goldsboro, NC, she met and married her husband, the late Edward Lee Artis and gave birth to seven children from this union.

Sometime later in life Mama and her family moved to Charlotte, NC.  While in Charlotte, she worked in housekeeping for many years.  Mama loved her children!  She showed it by raising some of her grands and she opened a daycare.

Mama is preceded in death by her parents, Isaiah and Viola Webb; her husband Edward Lee Artis; sons, Arthur and Raymond Artis; daughters, Dollie Mae McLarkin, Laureen Murphy, Daureen Artis and Amanda Artis; siblings, Wilson Webb, Isaiah Webb, David Webb, Journey Webb, Leroy Webb, Marcellus Webb, Rosa Webb Artis and Lillie Webb Whitley.

She leave to cherish her precious memories her son, Lester Lee Artis; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and a host of niece, nephews, and extended family and friends.
