"...Oh that I had wings like a dove! For then would I fly away and be at rest." Psalms 55:6 KJV
In the early morning of Christmas Eve, December 24, 2021, Mama got her wings and flew from her earthly home with us to her heavenly home with God. She is now at rest.
Maybell Williams Hart transitioned from mortality to immortality at the age of 105 years, 9 months and 9 days. She was born on March 15, 1916, in Norway, South Carolina, to the late Agnes Williams and Joe Goodson. At an early age, she was married to the late James Coy Hart, Sr., and to this union was born twelve children. She was preceded in death by six of her children: Louise, Ola, Joe, Larry, Rosa and Dean, and five grandchildren: Barbara, Betty, Janice, Torrence and Larry, Jr.
Mother Hart was one of the original founders and a life-long member of Mount Zion Christian Ministries, formerly Mount Zion Holiness Church. She was a Minister, Missionary, Mother of the Church and an Evangelist. At an early age, she anchored her life in God and has never faltered or waved in her beliefs. She has been immeasurably blessed and was truly a blessing to her family, church family, friends and so many others.
Whether you call her Mama, Grandma, Granny, Grandma Hart, Auntie, Mother Hart, Mrs. Hart, Cousin or Friend or MB, we all agree, she was a very important member of her family, church, and community. For decades, she provided her wisdom, strength, council, prayers, unconditional love and support to so many. Her door was always open and throughout the day family and friends dropped by to stay for a few minutes or to linger for a while, enjoying her company and to see what she had cooking in the kitchen. While the pandemic may have greatly reduced the number of in-person visits, it never slowed the outreach of phone calls, cards and gifts from her church family, extended family and friends. For her faithfulness, she was rewarded in return with so much kindness and devotion from everyone.
The impact and influence of Maybell Williams Hart will be felt for another on hundred years and beyond as her descendants travel nationally and internationally sharing the reflections of her teachings. She was never one to brag or boast about herself, but burst with pride over the accomplishments of her family and others. One of her favorite songs and sayings was "May The Work I've Done Speak For Me," and it surely does, oh, yes it does.
She will be so sorely missed, yet her legacy lives on and precious memories will be cherished by her daughters: Dorothy Johnson, Fayetteville, GA, Peggy Howey (Joe) Charlotte, NC: her sons: Atty. James Hart, Bobby Hart (Queen), and George Hart of Charlotte, NC and Dr. Charles Hart (Dr. Shirley) Chesapeake, VA, Grandchildren: Bobby Johnson (Bernice), Ronald Johnson, Fayetteville, GA, Calvin Johnson (Geraldine) Midlothian, VA, Michael Hart (Katrina) Stafford, VA, Derek Hart (Jennifer) Dupont, WA, Freddie Stewart, Cassandra Turner (Lem), Fran Hart (Susan), Balencia Gaither (Randy), Jeffrey Hart, Pamela Brandon, Joron Howey, Jaena Howey, Koren Adams (Kenneth), Mya Kelley (Derek) Charlotte, NC, 24 Great Grand Children, and 5 Great-Great Grandchildren, 2 special nieces: Agnes Hallman, Norway, SC and Annie Mae Newman, New York, NY, a special daughter-in-law: Wilhelmina Hart, a special beloved family friend, Felice Holley, and many other extended family and friends.
