Mr. Merrill Lee Brooks, 79,  of Charlotte, NC departed this life on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at The Pavillion in Charlotte.

Merrill Lee Brooks, also known as "Merle" by many, transitioned from life on June 18, 2023.  Merrill was born to the late Dorise William Brooks, Sr. and Ethel Abernathy Brooks in Mt. Holly, North Carolina on May 7, 1944.

Merrill attended Reid High School in Belmont, NC.  He worked as a welder at Sodyeco and as a roofer for many years.

He loved his family, enjoyed dancing and listening to music.  Often times, he could be a bit sarcastic and so quiet at times that you would not know he was around.  He was known for his sharp dressing and wearing his "lids" (hats).

In addition to his parents, Merrill was preceded in death by his wife, Lois J. Graham Brooks; five brothers, Andrew, Clyde, Dorise William Jr., Ronnie and Bozie; and one sister, Mary Magdeline Rozelle.

He is survived by his three children, Lanair Anette Brooks of Charlotte, NC, Correy Brooks (April) of Salisbury, NC, Tamara Brooks of Mt. Holly, NC and step-son, Brandon Stowe of Mt. Holly, NC; two brothers, James Brooks (Lelia) and Leonard Brooks (Thomasina), both of Charlotte, NC; and two sisters, Kathy Jackson and Karen McLean, both of Mt. Holly, NC; seven grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
