Michael A. Avery, also known as "Mike", was born July 2, 1965 in Philadelphia, PA, to the late Lorraine Benette and Curtis Lawrence Avery. He passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2022.
He graduated from South Philadelphia High School and attended Pierce College. Mike worked in the catering and food service industry for many years as a chef. He was a great cook and would often spend time helping others with event planning. His passion was preparing food and serving others.
Mike was a family man and a great friend. He was a hard worker who would find time to help the people he card about. Mike had a big smile and generous heart.
Mike loved the Philadelphia Eagles football team and would debate who would win the Sunday football games with his friends and family.
He was very proud of his children but most excited to see his baby girl complete her first year in college at UNC at Greensboro.
Mike leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife of twenty four years, Veronica Avery; three sons, Lester, Michael Jr., and Curtis; and two daughters, Veronica, aka Sheeka, and Chantel, all of Charlotte, NC; three brothers and two sisters, David Pate (Jackie), Craig Avery, Steven Avery (LaShon), Patricia Pate and Diane Avery; other relatives and great friends.
Mike will always have a special place in his family and friends heart!
