Michele "Shell" Mobley Doby, 53 of Charlotte, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Levine & Dickson-Huntersville. She was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on September 5, 1966 to the late John G. Houston and Vivian M. Phillips.  Michele attended Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and graduated from West Mecklenburg Senior High School in 1984.

Michele was not afraid of work.  She worked for Bethlehem Center Head Start, The United States Postal Service, and Charlotte Transit System.  Before health failed, she was a sales clerk at Roses Department Store.

Michele loved people and she always had a big smile for everyone.  She always had powerful and uplifting word for you.  Michele lived life to the fullest.  She will be missed by those who held her dear which includes her family, friends and her church family.

Michele is preceded in death by her son, Christopher B. Watson, and her husband, David Doby.  She leaves to cherish a legacy of memories: her loving mother: Vivian Phillips (Tracy); her loving and devoted sister: Donna Clay (Barney); her loving sister: Joy Green; her granddaddy: John G. Houston, Sr.; her loving, praying grandmother: Ms. Ida E. Morris; Aunts: Carolyn Nichols, Ann Houston, Mamie Wallace, Janice Wallace, Cecilia Wallace; a great loving aunt: Thelma Mobley; her wonderful and loving grandchildren: Ahmad Watson, Christina Kirby, Christopher Smith, Jamarie Kennedy; step-children: Kalomo Ellis, Ahmad Blakeney, Teleido Harvey; best friend: Renee Pratt; a special cousin: Beverly Mobley; her loving and caring nieces and nephews (Shell called her nieces Dimes); host of Aunts and Uncles; 1 great nephew, and 2 great nieces; her extended family The Morris' along with a host of loving friends and other relatives.
