Ms. Michelle Renae Wintons, 58 of Charlotte, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Atrium Health - Main.  She was born December 21, 1962 in Lake City, Florida to James, Sr and Carolyn Taylor Wintons.

She was educated at Bayside High School (N.Y.) and attended York College in Queens, (N.Y.) In 2005, she retired from Pilgrim State Hospital in Brentwood (Long Island) where she was a Ward Attendant.

On October 7, 1988, Michelle gave birth to Joseph Lamont Newkirk, who she loved and cherished more than anything.

Michelle enjoyed spending time with family.  She loved the beach, barbeques, and family gatherings especially during the holidays and birthday celebrations.  For Michelle, the cookout menu had to include her favorites: potato salad, baked beans, and hamburger cooked on a charcoal grill.

Listening to music was one of her hobbies.  Summer Madness and Before I let go were her favorite songs.

An early bird, Michelle was the first to rise in the morning and always started her day with a cup of coffee.  When she wasn't cleaning the house, Michelle could be found sitting outdoors, or indoors in her favorite chair, legs crossed, watching television with her fanny pack close by.  This unimaginable and sudden loss has left a deep hole in the hearts of family and friends.

Mourning her passing are her son, Joseph Newkirk of New York; close friend, Oscar Newkirk of New York; mother, Carolyn Wintons of Charlotte; father, James Wintons , Sr. of Miami, FL; sisters, LaWanda Diamond, (the late Russell Diamond), Jonel Wintons, NaQuashia Wintons, and Octavia Wintons all of Charlotte; brothers, James Wintons, Jr., (Jamela) of Charlotte; the late Casey A. Wintons; Jermaine Wintons of Jacksonville, FL; James McKenzie of Delaware; Rashawn Wintons of Pennsylvania; and Jackie Wintons of New York; a host of nieces; nephews; and cousins.
