Mrs. Mildred Coleman, 81, of Charlotte, NC, departed this life on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
Mildred Evelyn Juanita McDonald Coleman was born October 18, 1942 in Charlotte, NC to the late James McDonald and Mary Geneva Reid McDonald. She was the oldest of three children. She transitioned to her new home September 3, 2024.
Mildred graduated Salutatorian of the Class of 1960 from Plato Price High School. She received an Associate Degree from Mecklenburg College and her BA degree from Johnson C. Smith University. She taught school in the Chester County School System and worked for the Cigna and Hartford Insurance Companies. Mildred retired after 35 years in the insurance industry.
Her Christian life began at an early age at Moore's Sanctuary A.M.E. Zion Church. She was a faithful devoted servant of the Lord throughout her life. She served as a Deaconess, Trustee, Usher, Missionary, Lay Council member and Historical Society member. She was a woman of few words but had a big heart and smile.
Those left to cherish found memories are Robert Coleman, her husband of 58 years; son, Sean Nigel Coleman (Denise); grandson, Ethan W. Coleman; granddaughters, Morgan G. Coleman and Kori Rogers (Adam); great-grandson, Nolan Rogers; brother, Samuel McDonald (Cheryl) of Ridgeway, SC; sister, Doris McDonald of Charlotte, NC; nephew, Briann McDonald (Octavia); nieces, Lillie Brie, and Laila Reese McDonald of Virginia; brother-in-law, James Coleman (Judy); sisters-in-law, Sherry Ann Coleman of Charlotte, NC, Juanita Criddell of Dayton, OH; godsons, Rodney Davis (Pam), Nigel Davis of Florida, Kobe Osborne of Charlotte, NC; dear friends, Susie Norton, Glenda Wallace, and Vera Morris of Grand Rapids, MI; other nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.
