Mr. Milton Young, Jr., 69, of Charlotte, NC, departed this life on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House-Aldersgate.
Mr. Milton Young, Jr. was born January 26, 1956, at Good Samaritan Hospital, in Charlotte, NC. He departed his earthly life at 7:59 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Aldersgate in Charlotte, NC.
Milton was the beloved son of Ethel Mae Sigler-Young and the late Milton Young, Sr. At the age of eleven, Milton along with his five sisters, was baptized at the old First Baptist Church on Church Street in the Third Ward Community, October 1967, by the late Reverend Dr. J.B Humphrey. As an adult, he was a member of First Fellowship of Charlotte, originally under the leadership of Reverend J.B. (Brad) Humphrey, III, and most recently Pastor Al Kennon, III.
Milton was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Public School Systems, graduating from East Mecklenburg High School in 1974. During his time there, he was football player where he gained the nickname "Wolfe" by his classmates and friends. After graduation, he enlisted into the United States Army and served for several years. Upon his return to Charlotte, he married his high school sweetheart, Ingrid Renee Sullivan, the mother of his only son, Milton Young, III.
Milton as a teenager was very well known in the Grier Heights Community where he met many friends and neighbors. He was fun to be around, and if you were in his presence, there was never a dull moment. He kept you laughing and wondering about what he was about to do next. He was a big kid at heart playing with his nieces and nephews. He also loved playing cards, cooking, and watching or attending football and basketball games. The Carolina Panthers and Charlotte Hornets were his favorite teams. Milton was also tuned into college sports. Milton's health challenges limited him from doing a lot but he was adventurous and did what he could.
Milton was a loving son, brother, father, uncle and friend to many. He shared a special father-son bond with his next-door neighbor, the late Mr. Brice McCain, who he affectionately called "Pop." In addition to his father, Milton Young, Sr., he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mrs. Julia B. Sigler and his eldest sister, Patricia A Young-Walker-Joyner.
Left to cherish his memories are Renee; her parents, John and Zelma Sullivan; his mother, Ethel Mae Young; his son, Milton Young, III (Mindy); grandson, Mykhi; sisters, Georgia Y. Styles, Julia Y. McCollie (Raymond), Marcellie Y. Johnson (Goldman), and Loretta Y. Sidberry (Ronald); a special great-niece who he referred to as his "Babygirl," Nevaeh J. McCollie; special cousins, Harold Givens and Frank Young, Jr.; bonus nephew and niece, Robert Stover Jr. and Cynthia Stover; friend, Gwen Mackins who was like a sister; friend and caregiver, Bernice Campbell; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.
