Minnie Hopper, 79, of Kannapolis, NC, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at her residence in Kannapolis, NC.
As the close of day came for our loved one, we were brought face with the fact that the joy of her mortal presence had in the twinkling of an eye faded into a sad but loving memory on September 27, 2025.
Minnie King Hopper, daughter of the late Maggie King Evans and Solomon Young was born in Orangeburg County, South Carolina on December 10, 1945.
Minnie was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a loyal sister and a good neighbor. Her cheerful and friendly disposition caused her to be well-loved by all who knew her.
She joined Life Baptist Church in the late 1980's and remained an active and faithful member until her health failed. She served as a Girl Scout leader of Junior Troop #801 at Hornet's Nest Chapter. She chaperoned youth trips along side Rev. David E. Glover. She served as pastor's aide to Rev. Fredrick Wilson. She was a member of the UMBA Liturgical Dancers. She volunteered at the Center of the Hope Women's Shelter. She was Craft Coordinator for the VBS. She organized baptisms, served as an usher, was president of the Women's Ministry "Daughters In Christ," was president of the Church Culinary Ministry and she was the 2015 LBC Woman of the Year all while Minnie pursued her own business in domestic cleaning.
As the curtain closes, she leaves in possession of her precious memories her devoted children, John "Chip" Heggie, Andrea Lynch of Charlotte, NC and Shelvia (Adrian) Milburn of Baltimore, MD; a granddaughter she raised, Nia Murphy of Washington, DC; one brother, Samuel (Zelma) Glover of Baltimore, MD; six sisters, Irene (Tony) Ross, Elsie (Claude) Meekins, Sharon, Shirley and Bernice Evans, all of Baltimore, MD, and Gladys Evans of Charlotte, NC; thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson; a special cousin, Fred (Ruby) King of Jacksonville, FL; and many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
