Mose "Moses" Simmons, Jr. was born on August 3, 1950, to the late Mose Simmons, Sr. and Lillie Moore Simmons of Charlotte, NC at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born with an indomitable spirit, a bigger than life personality, and a family who loved him dearly. Moses departed this life on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at CMC – Mercy Hospital. He was affectionately known as "June" by his family and "Moe" by his friends.

Moses attended West Charlotte High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1968. Because of his ability to draw, at 17 years old, he was awarded a scholarship to attend a local arts school. He was extremely talented. He began working immediately after graduating high school. Moses worked at Family Dollar and Alston Canvas Company for several years before starting his own business. Moses was an entrepreneur by nature. He stated, "I am not cut out to work for anyone. I need to work for myself." He purchased a building near Wilkinson Blvd. and opened an automotive business which he operated for 35 years and named it The Shop.  If you knew Moses, then you knew about The Shop.
