Mrs. Myrtle E. Hardy, 70, of Charlotte, NC, departed this life on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Atrium Cabarrus.
With heartfelt love and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Evangelist Myrtle Hardy, a devoted servant of God, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and community advocate. She departed this life peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, compassion, and unwavering service.
Born and raised in West Virginia, Myrtle was educated in the McDowell County School System and graduated from Northfork High School. She later attended Nursing School in Elizabethton, Tennessee, where she earned her nursing certification and began a life of care and service to others.
Evangelist Hardy was baptized in Jesus' name in September 1971 under the pastorate of the late Bishop B. T. Jones at Mid-Way Shiloh Temple in Keystone, WV, and was filled with the Holy Ghost on September 23, 1975 under Bishop Aaron Redd at Grace Temple Eternal Life Center in Johnson City, TN. Her walk with Christ remained the foundation of her life and the source of her strength.
On April 24, 1976, she was united in holy matrimony to Suffragan Bishop Melvin Hardy Sr. in Johnson City, TN. Together; they built a beautiful life rooted in love, ministry, and faith at New Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church, Charlotte NC. Their union was blessed with two sons: Melvin Jr. and Matthew, who were the pride and joy of her heart.
Evangelist Hardy served faithfully in various capacities in ministry, always standing as a pillar of strength beside her husband. She held leadership roles including Vice President of the NCSC Ministers' Wives Alliance and President of Region One Pastors' Wives. Her dedication to service extended far beyond the walls of the church.
She was a longtime volunteer at Lebanon Road Elementary, where her outstanding contributions were honored through the creation of the "Myrtle Hardy Volunteer of the Year Award." She was also actively involved in Echo, a support program for families of incarcerated loved ones, reflecting her deep empathy and heart for outreach. Her exemplary commitment to community earned her the YMCA's prestigious "Rose Award."
Evangelist Myrtle Hardy was a woman of grace, dignity, and quiet strength. She touched countless lives with her warm heart, encouraging words, and steadfast dedication to God and family. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, generous spirit, and the unconditional love she gave so freely.
