Mr. Nathan Richard Askie, 72 of Charlotte, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Atrium Health - University.  He was born on November 22, 1948 in Arlington Liberia, West Africa into the union of Mary Hill land Samuel Askie. Nathan attended Booker Washington Institute in Liberia.  Upon graduation he migrated to the United States.

At an early age Nathan invited Christ into his life.  He loved to travel and he especially loved music, preferring the golden age of R&B and soul music.  He was a self-sufficient man that excelled at electrical work and continued to learn his craft in his twilight years.

While residing in New Jersey he married Lydia Garrett and that union produced a daughter, Natalie Rochelle.  Later in life, Nathan met and married Gertrude Holt in Charlotte, NC on November 14, 1999.  They resided in Charlotte together until he entered into eternal rest.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 22 years Gertrude, his daughter Natalie Lawas, grandchildren Gabby, Ethan, Stephan Tzamiya, Angela, Sebastian, Mackenzie, and Ryan, and his siblings; Lillian Crawford, Idell Ketter and Lucretia Goanbia.  He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives in the US & Liberia, in addition to cherished friends from across his long life and travels.
