MR. NATHANIEL BROWN-BILLINGS
Nathaniel Brown-Billings son of the late Robert Billings and Wilmer Houston Brown-Billings was born February 19, 1940, in Charlotte, NC. His formal education ended in 7th grade but that did not stop him from becoming the educated man he had grown to become. Young Nathaniel left home at the early age of 16 and began the start of his life. One of his early jobs was at Mr. Cummings Grocery Store at Ind. & Sycamore Street in Camden where he had a small apartment above the store. He was a hardworking and dedicated employee wherever he worked. Ultimately, of the many jobs he worked, his career took him down the path of construction where he used his God given talents to build homes and businesses throughout New Jersey. He was a member of the Local Construction Union for 30 years in Camden, NJ.
Affectionately known as Nate, he proudly served our country as a member of the US Army and National Guard. He loved fishing; working with his hands and was a skilled builder. He was a dog lover to the very end and asked if we could take him home from the hospital to spend some time with his animal son, Mr. Blackie. Now, if anyone truly knew Nate then you know all about Mr. Blackie. He stayed by his side sitting at the window keeping watch over him until the end. He was content at home living his life with his wife, Judy, buying scratch offs and giving rides to neighbors in need. He adored people, was kind and caring to them all and had many friends whom loved him dearly.
Nate was a believer in GOD. He accepted our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into his life. He was called home May 24, 2024, at home, surrounded by those he loved.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Wilmer Billings, Sisters, Eula Mae Grigg, Emma Louise and Barbara Jean Green, Brothers, Isaac Kirkpatrick Brown Jr., Arthur Samuel Brown, Ollie Franklin Brown and 1st wife Havella Billings.
He leaves to cherish in his memory the love of his life, wife Judy Brown of 30 years together. Brother, Robert Brown of Charlotte, NC and Sister Carolyn Moore (Alfred) of Baltimore, MD. He was a loving father to 14 children, Ashley Isler of Sicklerville, NJ, Bridgette Hunt of Lindenwold, NJ, Denise Bronson of Camden, NJ, Cherwan Honey (Daryl) of Sicklerville, NJ, Nathan Hunt (Rhoda) of Tennessee, Sabirah Mikell (George) of Richmond, VA, Michael Billings of Severn, MD, David Hunt (Diane) of Collingswood, NJ, Charlotte Hunt of Moultrie, GA, Gary Hunt of Woodbury, NJ, James Hunt of Sicklerville, NJ, Gregory Billings, Sonji "Tasha" Young of Charlotte, NC and Kwana Young of Charlotte, NC.
