Obituary

Mr. Nathaniel Brown, 79, of Charlotte, NC, departed this life on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at his residence.

Nathaniel Brown, 79, of Charlotte, North Carolina, was born September 9, 1945, to the late Myrtle Hunter Brown and Robert Brown.  He departed this life on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at his residence, with loved ones by his side.

Nathaniel attended York Road High School in Charlotte, NC.  He spent most of his career working in the Trucking Industry and secured a job with Overnight Trucking Company, where he retired after 30 years of dedicated service.  Nathaniel received safety awards for being accident free. His most prestigious award was the "Mack Million Miles" award, for traveling forty times around the world.

Nathaniel entered into a fifty-three-year union with Gwendolyn Jones; they had two sons.  Nathaniel was a loving, caring provider for his family. While he was a very private person, he would always be willing to lend a helping hand. A few joys to his life were golfing, worshipping at Greater Galilee Baptist Church where he was a member, spending time dyeing Easter eggs and buying Valentine's candy for his great-granddaughter Autumn.

In addition to his parents, Myrtle and Robert Brown, Nathaniel was preceded in death by five siblings - brothers, Charles Anthony Brown, Raymond Brown, Richard Brown, Frankie Brown and sister, Sheila Brown; and his grandson, Lamar Brown.

Those left to cherish fond memories include his wife, Gwendolyn Brown of the home; two sons, Trenton (Tracy) Brown, Eric (Stacey) Brown of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter, Kamala Brown of Charlotte, NC; great-granddaughters, Autumn Black of the home and Bahari Brown of Charlotte, NC; great-grandson, Syncere Gridiron of Charlotte, NC; siblings, David (Shyrll) Brown of Blair, SC, Donald (Thomasina) Brown of Rock Hill, SC, Kenneth Brown of Charlotte, NC; Carolyn (Leonel) Boyd of Rock Hill, SC, Philathia Brown (Sean) of Tampa, FL; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Brown of Baltimore, MD, Deborah Brown of Manhattan, KS, Betty Brown of Charlotte, NC; brother-in-law, Alexander Jones of Charlotte, NC; and a host of other relatives.
