Nether Mae Campbell (Rainey) was born in Georgetown, SC on July 27, 1938 to the late Richard Dease and Mrs. Annie Myers Rainey. She passed away on November 03, 2020 at Atrium Health-Main.
She was educated in the Georgetown County Public School System before relocating to Charlotte, NC in 1958 at the age of 20. In May of 1959, Nether Mae married Robert Campbell in Myrtle Beach, SC. They were happily married for over 20 years.
Nether Mae was an active member of Parkwood Institutional CME Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and beloved neighbors which usually involved playing a "friendly" game of cards; she also loved cooking, traveling, and sharing her "HUGE HEART" with everyone she encountered. Her most critical role was being the "Queen of Her Castle." She was a MATRIARCH! Defined as "A woman who rules or dominates a family", or "A mother who is head and ruler of her family and descendants". Many women are mothers, and very good ones in fact. However, it takes a special WOMAN to be a MATRIARCH. She has to have the instincts of nurturing, the aura of knowledge and wisdom, and the patience to be the mother of more than just her immediate offspring. It takes years to fortify this role. Years of being a foundation to lean on, solving problem after problem, and being the mother within the family circle that everyone looks up to, can trust, and feels safety from. Nether Mae was the epitome of a MATRIARCH and was truly an angel on earth and will be missed immensely.
Nether Mae is preceded in death by her mother (Annie Myers Rainey), father (Richard Dease), husband (Robert Campbell), siblings (Junior Rainey, Samuel Rainey, Albert Lee Rainey, Rose Allen), and child (Bernice Campbell).
Nether Mae is survived by her children and their spouses (Kenneth & Derrie Rainey, Vanessa and Manning Sweat, Robert Campbell Jr., Ronald Campbell, Curtis and Felicia Campbell), siblings and their spouses (Ervin & Dorothy Rainey, Betty Sinclair, Shirley Rainey, Lillie Rainey, Mattie Chaney, Mary Hill, Delores Jeffcoat, Mogolina Grant, Benjamin Dease, Samuel Dease, Richard Dease Jr.), 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a large number of extended family, friends and loved ones.
