Mrs. Nettie Doris S. Gates departed this life on February 5, 2023.  She was born November 4, 1942 to the late Albert and Maybelle Sinclair.  Nettie Doris was an only child, however, she was blessed to have a loving bond with many cousins, who were like sisters and brothers.  She was extremely proud to be called "Auntie" by her younger cousins.

Nettie attended West Charlotte High School in the 1960's where she met her devoted husband of 56 years, Mr. McArthur "Mack" Gates, whom she loved dearly.

Nettie was a dedicated employee, who took much pride in her work. She retired early from J.R. Cole Industries to care for her mother and husband. She devoted her life to taking care of her loved ones with a great deal of passion and affection.  Nettie loved pier fishing at Sunset Beach, gardening, sewing, and baking. She also loved being of service to others. Her warm caring nature captured the hearts of most people who came in contact with her.

She will be deeply missed by her two daughters, Angela Gates and Tangela Gates-Cook; and her grandson, Nijel Cook, who shared his "Nana" with his friends Taisa Hubbard,  Tyzel Hayden,  Zamarion Hoskins, Jimmy Bryant, and her "other daughter," Marsha Daymon-Adams.
