Mrs. Octavia L. Pruitt, 67, of Charlotte, NC departed this life on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Atrium Mercy.

Ms. Octavia LaVerne Pruitt, daughter of Wallace Pruitt Sr. and the late Bessie Louise Pruitt, was born September 16, 1955.  She was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 15, 2023.

Octavia was educated in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System and graduated from South Mecklenburg High School in 1973.  She received her B.A. Degree in Education from Winston Salem State University – Winston Salem, North Carolina.  She worked as an elementary school teacher in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School System.

She was a faithful life member of Moore's Sanctuary A.M.E. Zion Church and before her declining health, Octavia supported several ministries such as volunteering as a teacher during "The Sanctuary" Summer Enrichment Program.

Octavia's Masonic Affiliations include:  Amaranth Chapter #663, Order of the Eastern Star-PHA; Honorary Past Grand Most Ancient Matron – Charles E. Grier Court #2, HOJ-PHA; Rameses Court #78, Daughters of the Imperial and Zack Alexander Assembly #35, Order of the Golden Circle-PHA.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her father, Mr. Wallace Pruitt Sr.; brother, Mr. Wallace Pruitt Jr.; two nephews; aunts, Evelyn Gloria Cooper, Edith Cotton and Princeola Young; and a host of cousins, and friends.
