Mr. Odell Way, 88, of Charlotte, NC, departed this life on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Atrium Health Main.

Mr. Odell Way, son of Seabrom and Wilma Way, was born on January 19, 1936, in Charlotte, NC. He was the younger of two children.  Odell departed this life on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Atrium Health Center in Charlotte.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Lannette E. Pittman Way; both parents; sister, Mable DeJesus; and nephew, Mickey Way.

He attended Charlotte Mecklenburg schools and graduated from West Charlotte Senior High School in 1953.  He then attended Johnson C. Smith University.  Odell was employed by Dixie Radio & Supply for over 40 years.

At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and joined Mount Carmel Baptist Church where he remained a lifelong and faithful member, until his health declined.  Odell volunteered with the Loaves and Fishes of Charlotte at several locations.  He was a longtime resident of the Dalebrook neighborhood and Westside community.

Odell was a devoted son, husband, father and brother; a loving, caring in-law, uncle and friend.  He was a person of strong character and spirit and had a great sense of humor.

Survivors include son, Michael Odell Way; in-laws, John Arthur Pitman, Louise P. Nelson; nephews, Bryan C. Pittman, Murvi C. Dennis, Charles Dean Montgomery, Brandon J. Pittman, Kendrick A. Pittman, Matthew Stewart; nieces, Renee P. Montgomery (Charles), Lisa P. Dennis, Desiree Pittman; Karen Nelson, Lesley P. Thomas (Kwame), Tina E. Way, Yvette Stewart, Courtney Jackson, Zenophia Way, Elizabeth Stewart; several close cousins, great-nieces/nephews, friends and neighbors.

Odell Way was dearly loved by all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed by everyone.
