Obituary

Mrs. Ollie Mae Tolliver Carson, 84 of Charlotte, passed away on June 30, 2021. She was the second of six children, was born December 12, 1936 to the late Rozel and Laura Tolliver in Greenville, S.C.

"Mae began her education in Greenville, SC.  In 1942 the family moved to Charlotte, N.C.  She continued her primary education at Myers Street, Morgan, and Second Ward High School where she was a part of the Marching Band, graduating in 1953.

After graduation she worked several jobs until she was hired at Delmar Studios in the late "50"s.  In 1966 she began her career with the U.S. Postal Service and retired in 2001.  During that same period she married Woodson G. Carson.  To their union one daughter was born, June C. Wright.

Mae joined St. Paul Baptist Church at an early age and was active until her health became an issue.  Girl Scout, Missionary, singing on several choirs, working with the Benevolent Department and Finance Receiving are just some of the ways she served.

She is survived by; daughter, June C. Wright (Jeff) of Charlotte, NC; granddaughter, Charisse Wright of Charlotte, NC; two nieces, Maria Gooden and Valerie McCarroll (Chris); nephews, Gary Tolliver, Kent Tolliver, Rozel Tolliver (Tonya), Roy Tolliver, Jr (Lisa), Ramon Convia, Daryl Hunter, and Leonard Gaines; special cousins, John Watts (Ramona), Dorothy Thompson, Geraldine Brown (Allen), and a host of other cousins, friends, and sisters-in-law, Janice Tolliver and Johnnie M. Tolliver.

Ollie was the matriarch of the family.  Beginning in August we all did what we could to make her life normal. June, Jeff, Charisse, Kent, Gary, and Louise were always available.
