Pamela Yvonne Grigsby, 59 of Greensboro, passed away on Monday March 9, 2020 at Trellis Supportive Care in Winston Salem, NC. She was a native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Pam was the first daughter of Mildred Richardson Grigsby and Marvin O. Grigsby. As a child, Pam was comfortable for spending time with adults, and would often visit next door with grandparents, Jeff and Purry Grigsby and with her maternal grandmother, Lillie Belle Locke, who loved close by.
Pam was a very good student and enjoyed school. She attended Our Lady of Consolation and Charlotte Catholic High School, and then attended the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, with a major in interior design. She worked with several Greensboro businesses over the years, including the city of Greensboro School System and the Willis Towers Watson Insurance Company.
She was especially close to her sisters, Kim and Linda. Eventually, the girls moved to different parts of the state, but they often returned to Charlotte to see their parents, and it was unusual to see one sister with the other two. Pam never missed spending a holiday with her family. She always remembered her family and friends' milestones and special occasions, and marked them with cards chosen so carefully, recipients often remarked the greetings seemed written just for them.
A fierce advocate for animal rights and shelters, Pad had three rescue cats, but couldn't resist taking in two more when she found them and cared for all of them meticulously: Shelby, Chestnut, Lexi, Mia and Molly. She was also a supporter of the preservation of historic architecture.
Pam is preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Richardson Grigsby and her partner, Keith Lawson. She is survived by her father, Marvin O. Grigsby; her sisters, Kimberly Grigsby-Sessoms (Robney) and Linda Grigsby-King (Dwight) and nieces, Krysten Sessoms, Kameryn Sessoms and Karmyn Sessoms. Other family members mourning her are her aunt, Mattie S. Grigsby of Charlotte, and uncle, Alfred Grigsby of Raleigh; nieces, Reyanda Lusas, Tiffany King, Tabitha King, Megan Olsen, Andrea King, and nephews, Prassana King and Jonathan Torain, sister-in-law Karen Sessoms, and her best friend, Delane Adkins.
Pam's passing leaves many other friends and family who loved her dearly and who are already missing her.
