Obituary

Ms. Patricia Anne Buggs, 71 of Charlotte, peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Atrium Health - Pineville.  She was born on December 28, 1949 in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Mr. Marshall Buggs Jr, and the late Mrs. Ophelia Dunbar Buggs.

She was a strong believer in education and in the midst of that belief; she graduated from West Charlotte Senior High School and earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Johnson C. Smith University.  She furthered her education by receiving her Master's Degree of History from Atlanta University (now known as Clark-Atlanta University).

Pat utilized her stellar educational background to jump start her teaching career to cultivate young learners by teaching at Albany State University in Albany, Georgia.  As her teaching career continued, Pat moved back home to teach history at Barber Scotia College in Concord, North Carolina.  After many years as a collegiate educator, Pat decided to take a different path and entered the Union County School System where she spent several years as a history teacher at Sun Valley High School in Monroe, North Carolina.

Pat decided to change her career paths later in life and become a Magistrate for the Mecklenburg County Administrative Office of the Courts.  She really enjoyed this job as she met so many people from all walks of life.

Pat's true love was her family and poetry.  Her love for family outweighed everything.  Pat was very family oriented and was the family historian during family reunions and other gatherings.  She devoted all of herself to her nieces and nephews, as she spent time educating them on black history knowledge which extended beyond Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcom X.

Pat was always creating poems that would encompass people she knew, places she's visited and things she saw and no matter what it was, she was able to express her thoughts and feelings through her poetry.

Pat was a member of Reeder Memorial Baptist Church were she faithfully served on the Senior Choir, Gospel Hymn Choir and Hymn Choir.,  She also served as a historian for many years for the church.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Mr. Levi Buggs and sister Mrs. Bettye Buggs Babb.

As she continues her journey from all that is mortal, many happy memories sustain her survivors; a brother Mr. Ernest Buggs, and a sister Mrs. Joyce Buggs Woods (Walter) of Charlotte, North Carolina.  A host of nieces and nephews who she played a pivotal role in their lives, nieces, Jamilah Babb Wirtenson, Fela Babb, Brandi Woods, Jontilla Woods Coe (Eric), Umetrius Buggs all of Charlotte, North Carolina and Trina N. Woodson of Sumter, South Carolina. William Broome of Charlotte, North Carolina, Andre Buggs of Conyers, Georgia, Ricky Buggs of Sacremento, California and Craig Babb of Charlotte, North Carolina, along with a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and special friends.
