Patricia Ann Burton was born on January 28, 1937 in Charlotte, NC to the late Serena Billings Lee and JC Teague. After Ann received her education in the Mecklenburg County School System, she married the late Robert "Bobby" Norman Gregg and relocated to the Bronx, New York. From this union Ann had three daughters. In the early 1970's, Ann remarried the late Joseph Vernon Burton and from this union she had a daughter.
During Ann's career in New York she volunteered at a community center as she perfected her craft as a professional seamstress. With her knowledge and quality of work, she was able to create the most intricate details and could replicate any design that was presented to her. Ann's clientele was statewide making suits, uniforms, wedding dresses and Clergy robes as well as men's attire. Ann loved to cook and enjoyed making lasagna and frying chicken for family and friends. She often visited her native city each year where she would relish in sharing some of her delectable dishes like jambalaya and shrimp with cabbage.
In 2002, Ann retired from New York City Transit and relocated back to her native city of Charlotte, NC. Before the onset of illness, Ann took pleasure in crocheting afghans and gifting them to family and friends.
On the morning of Sunday, August 25, 2019 at 8:00 a.m., the angel of silence came and took Ann to her heavenly home.
