Obituary

Mr. Paulus Momo Bonar Sr., 61 of Charlotte, passed away on January 21, 2021 at Atrium Health-Main.  He was born in Lower Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, Liberia On October 21, 1959 to the union of Boakai L. Bonar and Adelaide Cornelia Harris Bonar.  He was the third of six children from that union.

Paulus started his early education at the Sarah Simpson George Kindergarten School in Lower Buchanan.  After completion of his kindergarten education, Paulus transferred to the Demonstration Elementary School in Lower Buchanan where he completed the sixth grade.  Paulus then enrolled in St. Peters Claver School where he completed the ninth grade and then moved on to the Booker Washington Institute (BWI) for completion of his high school education.  Paulus graduated from BWI with a concentration in Agriculture.

After high school, Paulus enrolled in the University of Liberia in Monrovia, Liberia.  At the University of Liberia, Paulus majored in Agriculture and received a Bachelor of Science degree.  Upon graduating from the University of Liberia, Paulus was employed as a Teacher Assistant by the College of Agriculture of the University.  Paulus was later awarded a scholarship to study Forestry at Ghent University in Ghent, Belgium.  From there, Paulus migrated to the United States of America (USA).  In the USA, Paulus worked with several companies, including Prinston Laboratory, Charlotte, North Carolina; Solectron, Charlotte, North Carolina; and Logitech, Inc., Columbia Maryland.

While in the United States, Paulus reconnected with and married his sweetheart from Liberia, who had also migrated to the USA.  The union was blessed with four children:  Welleh, Adelaide, Paulus, Jr., and Robert.  Paulus was a loving husband, father, and a very good friend to many.  Paulus loved spending time with family, especially with his children.

Paulus was a devoted member of the St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Charlotte, North Carolina for 24 unbroken years.  Paulus embraced Christianity at an early age and was a confirmed Episcopalian and active member of the St. John's Episcopal Church in Lower Buchanan, Grand Bassa County while in Liberia.

Paulus leaves to mourn his loss, his beloved wife, Venus Gbarbea Bonar; his children, Welleh, Adelaide, Paulus, Jr., and Robert; his mother, Adelaide Cornelia Harris Bonar; his siblings, Mrs. Alfreda Davis (Joe), Dr. Othello Brandy (Lerine), Mr. George Amsterdam, Mrs. Ethel Manyeah, Mr. Blyden Bonar (Rosetta), Mr. Charles Bonar, Dr. Adolphus Solomon Bonar (Ursula), Mrs. Veronica Solomon, Mrs. Faimatta Bonar Menyongai (Jeremiah), Ms. Artu Bonar Torbo, Mr. Victor Bonar, Mr. Reuben Bonar (Sabah), Mr. Larry Bonar (Korpo), Mr. Boakai Bonar, Mr. Roosevelt Bonar, Mr. Sam Bonar, and Ms. Baseline Bonar; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins; and many close friends.
