Ms. Pearl McGill-Lee, 85 of Charlotte, departed this life on March 16, 2020 at Atrium-Mercy. She was the seventh child and third daughter of the late Leonard Clarence and Jerdie Neal McGill, was born on December 19, 1934 in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina.
Pearl graduated from JH Gunn High School in 1952. Shortly thereafter she began a work career that spanned several decades. She was an employee of General Textile, and with her spirit for hard work and her desire to succeed, she rose to manager in the company and was charged with setting up their new company in Columbia, SC, which she accomplished with many accommodations. Other occupations include Cut Rate Fashions, Hunter Woods Nursing and Rehab Center, and Allstate Insurance Company. A good cook, who shared her skill generously with her family, Pearl was the quintessential modern-day woman. Given the time she was born she had progressive ideas about women and their place in society, which earned her much respect. Stern, yet gentle, she was guided by her spirtuality to do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Pearl is survived by one son, Anthony Lee, and four grandchildren; Cameran, Cayden, Caelyn Ann, and Caelah Lynn Lee; sister, Maggie L. McGill, who passed a few days later; sister-in-law, Katie McGill, sister-in-law, Carolyn McGill, and companion, William Grier. She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters; Janice and Beverly Ann Lee, eight siblings; John Thomas, Dolether, Leonard Hanson, Lennie Bell, Alberta, Clarence, Benzell, and Elezer McGill. She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
