Mrs. Pearleaner H. Atkins was born on December 6, 1932 in Lando, SC to the late Willie and Ethel Kee Howze. She took her flight to eternal rest on January 23, 2016.
Having moved to Charlotte, NC at a very young age, she was educated in the Charlotte
Schools system. A dedicated and committed worker, she worked for the Kenan-Dixon Company before retiring from Radiator Specialty.
She joined First Mt. Calvary Baptist Church at an early age and then moved her
membership to Faith Memorial Baptist Church as one of its founding members. She served in many ministries at Faith Memorial, including the Ushers' Ministry, the Senior and Hymn choirs. She was also an active participant in Sunday School and the Women's Ministry
.
She worked until her health would not allow her to continue.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two of her brothers, Rev. Willie
Howze and James Howze; her stepmother, Mrs. Katherleen Howze. Leaving to cherish precious memories of her life are four brothers, Robert Howze, Rev. Harry Roseboro (Lydia), Norman Hunter and Ronald Hunter, all of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Janie Ferguson (Mac), Barbara Ann Coleman and Barnetta Carter, all of Charlotte, NC; and one special aunt, Cora Lee Key of Jacksonville, FL. Though she did not have biological children, she was blessed with many nieces and nephews who love her and
will
miss her dearly. She leaves many cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral service will be at 12 noon on Friday, January 29, 2016 at Faith Memorial Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. to 12 noon. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Garden.
